Mazda Prototypes to Carry Tribute to Mazda’s Le Mans Victory

In 1991, Mazda made history when its rotary-powered 787B won the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the first victory by a Japanese manufacturer and still the only win by a car without a piston engine.

To mark the 25th anniversary of that victory in 2016, Mazda’s prototype race cars competing in North American sports-car racing carried a special tribute to the 787B, recalling its famous orange-and-green livery and the team that brought it home.
