Ford GT Carbon-Fiber Wheels Showcase the Dynamic, Weight, NVH and Efficiency Advantages of Innovative Material

The all-new Ford GT debuts the availability of next-generation carbon-fiber wheels, offering a new clear-coated, bare-carbon finish and the extensive benefits of lightweighting.
Next-Generation Construction
The latest iteration of Ford’s carbon-fiber wheels uses new advanced fiber and resin compounds that allow more intricately styled designs. The Ford GT is the second Ford vehicle to take advantage of carbon-fiber wheels, following the Shelby GT350R Mustang – the first mass-produced car with standard carbon-fiber wheels.
Why Carbon Fiber?
- Dynamics – reducing unsprung and rotating mass lets the suspension react faster, improving grip, steering response and ride quality.
- Weight – carbon-fiber wheels are dramatically lighter than comparable aluminum wheels.
- NVH – the material’s damping characteristics help reduce noise, vibration and harshness.
- Efficiency – less mass to accelerate and stop improves performance and efficiency.
