Ford Drops the Most Race-Ready and Road-Legal Mustang Ever

The Shelby GT350R is the most track-capable, street-legal Mustang Ford has ever built. Where the GT350 is a sharp sports car, the “R” is a race car with a license plate.
Power
Like the GT350, the R uses a 5.2-liter flat-plane-crankshaft V8 that makes 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, revving to 8,250 rpm and paired exclusively with a six-speed manual.
Built Light
To shed weight, Ford removed the rear seat, trunk floorboard and carpet, backup camera and much of the sound-deadening. Air conditioning and the stereo were made optional. The biggest innovation is the wheels: the GT350R was the first mass-produced car with standard carbon-fiber wheels, saving significant unsprung weight.
Track Hardware
Specific chassis tuning, MagneRide dampers, a carbon-fiber rear wing, a larger front splitter and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires make the R a weapon on road courses.
