A Ford GT Built Entirely Out Of Legos

It took three weeks, roughly 40,000 bricks and a whole lot of patience, but the result is spectacular: a LEGO version of the Ford GT race car that competed at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Built at one-third the size of the real car, the LEGO Ford GT went on display at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France during race week, delighting fans young and old. The model faithfully reproduces the GT’s dramatic flying buttresses, low nose and race livery.

A Fitting Tribute

The timing could not have been better. In 2016 – 50 years after the legendary Ford GT40 finished 1-2-3 at Le Mans – the new Ford GT won its class at the same race. LEGO later released Ford GT sets in its Speed Champions and Technic lines so fans could build their own.
