All-New Ford F-150 Raptor Race Truck Finishes Grueling Best in the Desert Mint 400 Off-Road Race

The sound of hard rock from satellite radio filled the cabin as the production-based 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor race truck finished the demanding Best in the Desert Mint 400 off-road race in the Nevada desert.
Piloted by drivers Greg Foutz and Tim Casey, the Raptor was the only stock truck competing in its class – no long-travel race suspension, no custom engine. It ran with the same high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, 10-speed automatic, FOX shocks and aluminum body that customers can buy.
Why It Matters
The Mint 400 – “The Great American Off-Road Race” – punishes vehicles with hundreds of miles of rocks, whoops and silt. Finishing it in a showroom-stock truck was a powerful demonstration of the durability Ford engineered into the second-generation Raptor.
